The process of dental implant placement
01
Consultation
The patient discusses their treatment options with the dentist. Once it has been decided that an implant procedure is required, a panoramic or 3D X-ray, a thorough examination, and a personalised treatment plan are carried out. The patient is informed about the procedure, the expected duration, post-operative care, and any other concerns.
02
Dental implant surgery
The procedure is reviewed again, and the patient is prepared for surgery. Local anaesthesia is applied, and the implant is surgically placed in the jawbone. Post-operative instructions are given before the patient is discharged.
03
Healing period
Under ideal conditions (good oral hygiene, no harmful habits, and following the dentist’s instructions regarding diet and physical activity, use of prescribed medication), healing takes 3-4 months. If bone grafting is required, full healing may take 6-9 months.
04
Placement of the healing abutment
This can be done immediately after implant placement or three months later, when the implant is fully integrated into the bone. The healing abutment helps shape the gum tissue properly for the final restoration. In order to screw in the final restoration (tooth), both the bone tissue and the soft tissues must be prepared anatomically correctly.
05
Implant-supported prosthetics
The final stage of treatment is prosthetics. Two appointments are required to complete the final restoration. During the first visit (2-3 weeks after the healing abutment has been placed), an impression of the implants is taken and sent to the dental lab. The custom-made prosthetic teeth are then securely attached to the fully integrated implants. Both appointments are brief and painless, allowing you to enjoy your restored smile and improved dental function.
Your questions
Find out answers to the most common implantation questions
Is dental implant surgery painful?
No, the procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, ensuring it is completely painless. Pain relief medication is provided after surgery to minimise discomfort.
How much do dental implants cost?
The cost depends on the number of implants required, the complexity of the treatment, and whether bone grafting is needed. A full cost breakdown will be provided during your consultation.
What should I know before getting dental implants?
Patients should not have colds, flu, or respiratory infections at the time of surgery. Any ongoing medications or medical conditions must be disclosed to the dentist during the consultation. Further tests may be required, or medication adjustments may be recommended before surgery.
At what age am I eligible for dental implants?
Dental implants are placed in patients whose jawbone has fully developed and is no longer growing. This procedure is typically performed from the age of 18 onwards. Eligibility for implants depends not on age but on overall health and any co-morbidities.
Is it possible for a dental implant to fail?
Dental implant failure is exceptionally uncommon. Our clinic has a 99% success rate for implant integration. If an implant does not integrate successfully, it is removed and replaced with a new one after healing. Reimplantation is carried out at no extra cost to the patient.
What is the lifespan of a dental implant?
The durability of implants and dentures depends on personal oral hygiene, routine dental check-ups, and regular visits to an oral hygienist.

I treat every patient as a friend, ensuring a warm welcome, expert care, and exceptional service, so they leave with a smile and joy. I complete every treatment only when the best possible outcome is achieved.
